Started by parent volunteers and shaped by years of funding and leadership through Julian Pathways, Inc., the school garden at Julian Elementary School has been flourishing for 12 years.

The garden is a multifunctional outdoor classroom with irrigated raised beds, a gazebo, a handmade table, pergola, rainwater harvesting, wildlife habitat, 20-plus fruit trees, three artist gates, California natives, flowers, outdoor food prep area, school-wide composting bins and more. Students attend a 30-minute garden class during the school day taught by our garden teacher and enjoy more garden activities in our afterschool program.

Teachers and staff alike use the garden for reading, art projects, celebrations and alternate teaching space. Most importantly, the school garden has become a beloved space and a treasured program at our school, impacting the lives of hundreds of Julian students every single year.

Would you consider becoming a friend of the garden at any level of sponsorship?   If so please contact Tricia Elisara at [email protected].
