The Bohemian Bee is a small business owned by Master Beekeeper, and Julian resident, Andrea Supergan.

Education – The Micro Masters program was created by Andrea to provide elementary age education for San Diego Unified School District, and Julian Union schools. She believes that childhood education can inspire passion and effect real change for the future of our pollinators. Please contact if interested in hosting a class on your campus.

Hive Tours – Meet the stars of the show! Suit up and and take a deep dive into the amazing, and intricate society of the honeybee hive. Participants have the opportunity to enjoy an hour and a half experience that includes a guided inspection of a working beehive, as well as a honey tasting at one of our local apiary locations.

Hive Tours must be scheduled in advance of your intended tour date.

Due to the seasonal nature of beekeeping Hive Tours are conducted May – Early August, they are done in small groups by appointment only, ages 5+. Please contact if interested.

Hive Management – The Bohemian Bee prides itself on being a natural beekeeping business. This means that we only put our hives on the properties of farmers and growers that are choosing to grow their crops without the use of harsh pesticides. We do not provide temporary pollination services, but instead have permanent apiary locations in Julian. This ensures that our bees don’t encounter the high levels of pesticides that affect traditional migratory beehives used for the pollination of industrialized agriculture.

Retail – The Bohemian Bee sells it’s wildflower honey, and bee pollen in small batches at several local businesses. You can find a jar at the fallowing locations:

Julian Mining Company

Eureka! Discover gold, gems, fossils and artifacts at our claim next to the very creek where Fred Coleman discovered gold and sparked the Julian Gold Rush! Our gold panning trough,  gem sluice box and fossil dig-pit will keep the young and old busy for hours! Throw tomahawks, a favorite pastime of the miner’s. Take a ride on the train as it runs on the rail through a faux mine tunnel, and check out the collection of hard rock mining equipment. Shop the old fashioned mercantile and gem shop or follow the map of plaques around the property to learn about the history of the area! Open to the public on weekends only, and open for private bookings on the weekdays for gold rush field trips.
